Underwater viewing / Dine With Shamu Update 7.2.12.

Just a quick update on the UV and DWS area at SeaWorld. Today, work can be seen around the DWS area. It look's like it is getting some paint and some small face lifts as it has been closed for some time. The gutter attached to the roof has finally been fixed. There were also a few park executives getting a tour of the area (DWS/UV). Asked 3 team members including the one that stood in the DWS reservation and information desk. still no word or a date for opening.

Also, according to one of the team members who works at Shamu Stadium Tilly has not been doing his part of any OneOcean/ Shamu Rocks shows for weeks now. Anyone see him in recent shows? See him most of the time swimming in the back right pool.

A few days ago a new baby dolphin was born at the Dolphin nursery, short video below shot today showing it swimming with mom. Animal Specialist on the bridge keeping a close eye on both mom and baby. Mostly swimming under mom other than coming up for air.

SeaWorld Update 6.23.12.

The Underwater viewing area still has not changed since last visit. Whales are able to swim in the pool after the show. The tables and chairs which was all stacked in one side earlier in the week have now been spread out around the DWS area.

Did not see Tilikum out for the 2 One Ocean show and the Shamu Rocks show we watched for the debut of Summer Nights. The whales did a lot more splashing though.

Makaio came up to the slide out during one of the One Ocean shows. Not sure if it was his first time, the trainers got really excited when he did which happened when the 2 whales are about to kiss (side by side). Kiss did not happen because he was in the center of the 2 whales. Took him a little longer to get himself down. Did not get to get a picture... We were in the sides but im sure its on youtube somewhere.

New souvenir popcorn buckets available for sale at Shamu Stadium. They are $10 and believe is a 99 cents refill.

Have food allergies? SeaWorld has got you covered. Allergy friendly eateries around the park are now labeled on the park map.

Construction update for the new Antarctica attraction: New steel beams are now being placed next to the old penguin encounter structure. A few days ago a crane joined the construction site.

About a week ago several sealions were born, Here is one of them snuggling up with its mom? or dad.
What are you doing up there mommy? (Dolphin Nursery)

There are 2 large turtles in this picture can you spot them?
Other Videos:
Polar bear On the move. Not seen the polar bear move around till yesterday. Short video of it relocating to another spot just a few feet away to rest some more.

SeaWorld update 6.11.12 / whales in Underwater viewing tank

Thanks to a tip from a blog reader... The whales have been spotted inside the UWV pool. Although the underwater viewing area still closed, the large machine is gone, benches are back and everything looks ready for opening! As you can see, a black mesh type material covers the glass of the UWV pool. Trainers brought in some of the whales into the pool about 30 mins before one of the OO shows. The blue wall still covers the entrance of the UWV and nothing new in the DWS area.

Video of whales in the DWS/UWV pool:

Some pics from a packed OneOcean show.

The gate trainers use to enter the stadium is missing the black curtain.

Took a visit to the Blue Horizons show to see what has replaced Jozu's part of the show; as requested. The large black bird still flies down from left back, the 2 black tumbling acrobats still do their part, but afterwards it just skips to the finale of BH show which makes the show a little shorter than usual.

Finally, a large construction crane which can be seen from around the park has joined the construction site for the new Antarctica attraction opening next spring.

SeaWorld Update 6.4.12.

Construction update on the Underwater viewing / Dine with Shamu area. UWV is now fully landscaped but pathway still blocked with a new wooden wall. Still no word from SW on an opening date.
Video:

A quick look at the construction progress of the Antarctica attraction set to open next spring...

New souvenir refillable cups available aside from the new Turtle Trek design. SW added an orange Shamu cup and a swirly orange one which I believe is for the icee slush type drinks. Did not see anymore of the OneOcean cups so they might be all gone.

Have kids? Going to SW soon? Make sure you pick up one of these maps. These "Kidsiderate" guide pamphlet has some good tips on what kids under 9 yrs/o might enjoy around the park. It includes tips on shows, animal connections, photo opportunities and dining options. You can pick up a guide near the reservations desk at the front of the park. Sample of what is inside below:
